Hi Reader,

While I'm trying to enjoy these last days of blue skies and warmish weather (it did hit upper 80s on Tuesday for the last time, which was perfect for our last evening paddle and charcuterie picnic on a nearby lakeπŸ’œ) I've also been working on something behind the scenes that I'm SOOOO excited to have to offer you!

It's an actual, physical cookbook!! This first one is all about water bath canning and includes 40 of my go-to recipes for preserving in jars all through the year, from cherries and rhubarb in the spring to onions in the winter.πŸ’œ

➑️ GO HERE to see Easy Water Bath Canning: 40 Tried and True Recipes for Tomatoes, Pickles, and More in my shop!

Right now there are only 10 copies, but once those sell out you can choose to preorder which will help us to know how many more to order. πŸ˜€ (Brian's helping me with this!)

(Oh, and if you'd just like a digital version and skip the shipping, you can see that option here in my shop, too.)

I hope to add more cookbooks in the future (have a suggestion? I'd love to hear your wish!), but this is a test to figure out all the backend stuff which includes both the self-publishing and the store and shipping (uh, not for the faint of heart, lol).

Thank you so much for your support (signing up for the email, making my recipes, leaving reviews, etc.) to make this fun thing possible! πŸŽ‰

Grab Some Fall Recipes!

I'm finally starting to embrace fall since it's literally a couple days away, ha! I have a whole section of recipes that are great in September, October, and November right here. Here is a peek at a few included:

Psst: See what I did? I created a whole menu for you that uses seasonal produce and fall-themed foods!

In My Kitchen

I have been using a set of beeswax bowl covers with elastic edges for about a year now that replaced the plastic "shower cap" bowl covers I've used for many years (they finally wore out and I didn't want to go with plastic again). I wasn't sure how they'd hold up once they were repeatedly washed, but I'm here to say they are going strong and aren't showing signs of wear.

I do wash the food side only and that gently with as cool water as I can (hot water will melt/degrade the beeswax more) and they are working well for bread proofing as well as covering bowls for any type of leftovers. I love them!

My exact set isn't for sale anymore, but I've found I don't use the two smallest sizes much, so I when I saw this set of 6 beeswax covers that have 2 each of the best sizes I thought I'd share with you because if I need more, this is the set I'd get.

A Few More Things

Since I've mentioned a couple of times (a-hem...) that I'm a summer girl, the transition to fall is always hard for me, like a sad goodbye (caveat - I know it's because I live in the PNW, ha!). So when I saw this mostly cotton sweater from newly revitalized Abercrombie & Fitch I bought a striped version. And when it came I started anticipating cool weather (I know!) because it's cozy and soft and I can't wait to wear it! (Note: there are a lot of colors/designs and some are ALL acrylic, so if you look be sure to click on the materials section to be sure you're getting one that's 60% cotton.)

You know how we're constantly fighting off animals that eat all our plants, flowers, produce? In the past my flower pots on the front and back porches had been spared...not this year, sigh. My poor glorious double rose impatiens just got mowed down over and over through the summer. 😟 And the Victoria salvia in the back porch pots are a shadow of what they should be. What to do? Well, I ordered these large garden obelisks that Brian and I assembled (not hard) and placed right over the top of the pots. My plan is to add chicken wire to make them look like the fancy (read: expensive) wire covers I saw online which will really keep the deer out (from most of the plant, anyway). They are sturdy enough and big enough and HALF THE PRICE of anything else that was like them (and there were a lot between Wayfair and Amazon). I think they are a good deal so am passing it on - they would look great as plant supports in the garden, too (which I think is what they're mainly for).
