Hi Reader,

How has your week been? May is almost over and then it's June, which always seems like summer to me even though it doesn't officially start for another couple of weeks.

After getting back into the swing of things from our England vacation (Missed the shots I shared? You can see them here!), it was all things garden this last week. I planted starts and seeds, watered, harvested (overwintered broccoli, beets, onions, and the first of the spring lettuce!), and generally enjoyed myself.πŸ’œ

You can see from the pictures of my various beds above that I have things in all stages of growth. Some are just seedlings, some are putting out a lot of growth, and some of the onions and lettuces are close to being harvested (I pick the outer leaves of the lettuce to extend the harvest vs. cutting an entire head).

It's fun and rewarding! Oh, and these beds had all been covered in regular row covers since March/April and now that it's warmer, I covered them all with insect netting after taking these photos. I have to do that to keep the ground squirrels from eating everything, but it also gave me super clean produce last year!

(That's the joy of scheduling emails πŸ˜€) We've been back a week, but it took me a bit of time to deal with the worst jet lag I've ever had (and we've flown 15 hours to Australia!). In addition to the known sleeping issues, we both...

One of my favorite months - the warmth starts for real, the garden is looking new and different every day, and it's my birthday month.πŸ˜‚ Since it's just around the corner, I thought I'd highlight the May menu a little early, you know, so you can be prepared and all, lol. As spring progresses I really like the idea of doing more...

Seeing the weather in the rest of the country on social media and the news, though, makes me think we're all in the same boat pretty much! Wild April I guess. πŸ˜€ Thankfully, my little seedlings have been enjoying the...
