Hi Reader,

Oh goodness, where to start with what's been happening? Let's just say I hope your last week has gone better then mine.😀 I am not writing this from Arizona, which was where we had planned to be for two weeks. I am instead writing this from our couch with my arm in a splint! I broke my wrist last Friday in two places after tripping and falling onto a large beam at a house remodeling construction area at a friend's house. Can you believe it?

Of course it is my right wrist, which pretty much means I can't do most things (and in fact I'm dictating this into my computer). The good news is that after consulting with an orthopedic surgeon I don't need surgery and the wrist should heal with no lasting effects after six weeks. I will still be able to lift weights, garden, cook, and do all the things I enjoy doing. But just not for the next six weeks.

What does this mean for the site, newsletter, cookbooks, etc.? Well, my goal is to continue as much as I'm able, which means I will be able to update recipes and bring them to your attention through the emails, share what we are able to do for the upcoming gardening season, and other useful things that you are used to expecting from me.

What you might not see as much of is new recipes because cooking and photographing are kind of hard to do with one hand, lol. I've got some people lined up to be recipe testers and I think I could photograph them making the recipe with one hand, so that might happen but right now I'm still planning. And the newest cookbook I've been working on for pantry staples will probably be put on the back burner unless I hire someone to help me with it.

Guess what I have been doing a lot of? Reading! So I will have book reviews to share in the next Good Things List.😀

💜 One of the blessings that have come from this incident, however, is being the recipient of so much love and care from my family and friends. It's humbling when you're a doer to not be able to do but it's a good reminder that helping goes both ways and deepens our relationship and love for each other. I'm just so thankful for all the meals, texts, and calls that I've gotten.

Head's Up

One thing I am going to be sharing with you next week for sure is a gardening summit I'm participating in! It starts on Monday the 23rd and goes through the week with recorded interviews with gardeners on areas like seed starting, soil health, planning (that's me!), and more.

Everything is practical, realistic, and approachable — perfect if you’ve felt overwhelmed by gardening advice in the past. So watch your inbox on Monday for all the details.😀

Healthy Comfort Food

I definitely feel like healthy food can be comforting - it doesn't always have to be store bought or ultra processed. Here are the recipes I turn to when I want that "comfort food" feeling, which is usually in the depths of winter:

I've been dipping my feet into using my new greenhouse to start seeds and pot them up. I'm going to move to hardening off plants I started indoors this week,...

Winter turning to spring...

Of course if you've broken a bone you know that the restrictions come from the new range of motion you have (or lack thereof...).😂 So I'm slowly getting my wrist used to moving again...
