Hi Reader,

As soon as the weather starts cooling in the fall I want to start baking. (Well, and using up the rest of the green tomatoes using some of these recipes that are 20% off through the 25th! -discount applied at checkout)

There's just something about the cozy fall vibes that make me want to add some delicious smells to the house after a summer of cool foods and open windows.

So I pull out my summer neglected sourdough starter and attempt to wake it up in my cold kitchen. (I know people talk about how easy sourdough is to grow in the summer when it's hot, but I have no interest in it then. πŸ˜‚) While I'm waiting on it, I make yeast breads, muffins, and sourdough discard recipes.

What about you? The thing I love about baking, besides the smell and eating it, is that even in an empty nest household you can bake up a batch of something good and freeze it and it will be just as good a month or two later. Or gift baked goods to family or neighbors. Or of course make a half recipe. Options!

Do you have any favorite things to bake in the fall? I'm sharing a few of mine below if you'd like some ideas.πŸ˜€

Favorite Things to Bake in the Fall

Head's Up for one of my favorites

The "Try a Beesilk Lotion Bar for $1" promo is back from Made On! Don’t miss this chance to snag a bar for just $1 (just pay shipping) from now through 10/31.

βœ… Just 3 ingredients - beeswax, coconut oil, and shea butter. Pure, simple, effective.

βœ… No β€œmystery chemicals” - you won’t need a dictionary to read the label.

βœ… Created by a mom of 9 - so you know it’s family-tested in the trenches of everyday life.

βœ… Mess-free and portable - toss it in your purse, diaper bag, or even your church bag (it won’t spill like liquid lotion).

βœ… Thousands of glowing reviews - women say it healed their cracked fingers in days.

BIG TIP: Made On also has the BEST things for stocking stuffers!! I LOVE the tinted lip balms for women (Crimson Rose 😍) and their plain lip balm is Brian's go-to. He also really likes their Hair Butter and I swear by their Foot Rub. πŸ’œ Grab a few as you take advantage of the sale and get a head start on Christmas at the same time!

Fudgy Zucchini Cookies

Here's another delicious way to use up the last of the zucchini! With a brownie-like texture, whole wheat and lower sugar the zucchini is just a bonus!

Make the BEST Ranch Dressing in 5 Minutes

The reviews on this don't lie - it's the best and WAY better than store bought (plus better for you and costs less)! This doesn't use mayo, either.

A Few More Things

A few months ago I challenged you to give up the dishwasher gels and pods and go back to powdered detergent to save money (because you can use less) and lessen the use of plastics with pods. So I had to share this article from Wirecutter that mentions that powdered detergent - even the lowest performing generic brands - performed better than any gel or liquid. Now, the article says that powder-based pods are good, but you know I don't think that, lol. But it's just one more reason to go back to good old powdered dishwasher detergent - save $, better for the environment (especially when it comes in a cardboard box), and now better performance!

I just recently learned about these paintable electrical wall plates that go directly on top of normal two-hole outlet. I'm thrilled I can finally paint the white outlet dark green like the rest of our kitchen island!! No painting over the prong parts and then having them chip with use. I love simple solutions like this.πŸ’œ

Having a pear-shape has meant finding jeans where the waist doesn't gap is a challenge. I recently tried a couple of Old Navy Curvy Jeans and I can report they fit beautifully in the hips AND the waist! I got the OG Curvy Loose (in brown - love!), and the OG Curvy Straight Ankle and I'm keeping both. That's a first in a long time. πŸ‘ If you have a shape like mine, I encourage you to check them out!

Thanks for reading along! I hope you have a wonderful week!

Not only was it personally fulfilling to see these two books I've labored over received well, but Brian and I had fun watching the sales come in and then packaging up each order.πŸ’œ Of course even though the sale is over, I still think the canning...

But that didn't stop us from having our scheduled date night where we had some great BBQ at a local restaurant and then saw the movie, Good Fortune, which I wasn't sure about from the trailer but turned out to be pretty good. The rest of our week was pretty normal, which got me to...
